The Copyright Symbol
in OpenOffice.org
Under Linux

Here's a webpage that describes how to
type a copyright symbol:

The Copyright Symbol Webpage

This page has a lot of wonderful information
on it. However, I'm not able to get a copyright
symbol. I'm using OpenOffice.org under Debian
Linux.

Perhaps it is done differently under Linux. I'm
not sure. Here's a document that describes all
kinds of ways to insert a copyright symbol under
OpenOffice.org:

How to Handle Special
Characters in OpenOffice.org

The above document has a section called
Inserting Special Characters from the Menu.
This section I found quite useful. It describes
an easy way to insert a copyright symbol.

Here are the steps:

  1. Start editing a text document under
    OpenOffice.org
  2. Place your cursor where you'd like
    to insert the copyright symbol
  3. Look for menus in the upper
    left-hand corner of your screen
  4. Find the menu called Insert
  5. From the Insert menu,
    choose special character
  6. After choosing special character,
you will be presented with a grid that
    displays special characters.
  7. Choose the copyright symbol from the
    grid

At the time of this writing (September, 2011)
the copyright symbol is in the 7th row in the
middle of the row. However, this may change.

It's nice to know where things are, isn't it?
